At the end of August 2015, EarMusic label released the first live album of Lisa Live in Manchester recorded at Bridgewater Hall on September 7, 2014 during her tour. The album was mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London and Lisa had the chance to sing on stage together with a full section of strings instruments to give more power to the performance and to the recordings.
The band consists of: Ian Devaney (keyboards and guitar), David Oliver (keyboards), Terry Lewis (guitar), Johnny Thirkell (trumpet), Mick Donnelly (saxophone and flute), David Giovannini (drums), Davide Mantovani (Bass), Andrea Grant (choir). The tracklist is a mix of her old hits and songs taken from Seven.
The sound of the recording is not so good but it gives a kind of vintage effect to the atmosphere. Lisa and her voice are more at ease with the new songs. On the other hand, she finds some difficulties singing her old hits despite her great effort. Stupid heart, Change, Time to make you mine, Live together are well interpreted while Set your loving free is, probably, the best performance of the album.
In the end Live in Manchester is an album full of enthusiasm where Lisa sets a new challenge, to put on the market her first live album ever. For the fans is definitely a must-have but it could have been planned and produced in a better way.
